Singer-songwriter Dave Laurence has crafted an energetic blend of rock, pop, jazz, and country, sometimes infused with the dry humor from his New England roots, which he calls “Fun Acoustic Music.” While Dave’s music may defy classification, it resonates with audiences.
Dave's musical career began as a bassist for several bands in his hometown of Portland, Maine throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He began performing solo in 1987, with stops in Boston and Providence before migrating south to Oklahoma City in 1995. He then played throughout Oklahoma and the Midwest, including appearances at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, before taking a hiatus in 2003.
Dave returned to the stage in 2012 and has not looked back, logging shows from Mexico to Maine. He has released three albums since his return: Every Lonesome Road (2012), Analog Soul (2015), and Right Here (2017). In 2022, Dave retired from his government job to pursue music full time. He is working on his fourth record, Chrome On The Range, due for release in November 2024.
Now primarily an acoustic guitarist, Dave still enjoys playing bass, as well as keyboards, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, percussion, and other instruments. He performs and records with other musicians when time allows.
